Toronto Custom Orthotics

A custom orthotic is a custom-made three-dimensional insert that is placed in your shoe to help relieve pain and discomfort caused by lower limb injuries. Custom orthotics have the advantage of being made from precise imprints of your feet so that they can give you custom support and comfort. Custom orthotics are designed to redistribute body weight efficiently and take pressure off of areas which may be overburdened. They also help to properly align the bones of the feet, ankles and knees to reduce risk of injury.

Custom orthotics are often helpful with foot conditions, such as bunions, flat or pronated feet and fallen arches, in addition to ankle, knee and low back pain. More specifically, orthotics are often prescribed to relieve symptoms associated with common injuries such as plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, and neuromas, as well as helping individuals with diabetes or arthritis.

At Activecare, our chiropractors use a semi-weight bearing casting technique, involving a foam block imprint to capture the three-dimensional contours of the foot. This technique is less messy and time consuming compared to plaster casting, and yields an equally high quality custom device. A wide variety of styles and designs are available for your selection.
